We Must Remember

We may not remember
their names,

their deeds.
We may not remember
the details of the cause,
but we must never forget
the reasons for the why.

The Presidio Cemetery
San Francisco National Cemetery
San Francisco
California
USA

Since Spanish soldiers arrive in 1776
and transplanted the Ohlane Indians,
a military outpost,
Spanish, Mexican, American,
has occupied the area
overlooking San Francisco Bay
called the Presidio.
In 1884
a military cemetery was formally established.
Today, over 15,300 of all services
now lie here at rest overlooking the bay.
