What is the difference
or a church.
And, does it really matter?
The Blue Mosque
(photo c. 1992)
Constructed between 1609 and 1616
at the behest of Sulton Ahmed I,
it is the only mosque with 6 minarets.
Its name is derived from
the over 21,000
16th and 17th century faience tiles.
Made in all shades of blue,
the tiles cover the lower third
of the walls and pillars.
